Here is the Release Candidate version of PowerTools Lite 2011:

Please read the following before downloading

Remember that this is Release Candidate level software. This means that we think this version is ready to be officially released. However, we are still giving this version to you for a final check. If no bugs are found, this version will be released as the official version.

As always, we will give out free licenses to the best beta testers. If a beta tester already owns a license we can also issue VIP and Platinum VIP packages for free, or other such prizes.

However, you are not entitled for any kind of free license by simply downloading these beta versions. Free licenses are given out only to beta testers who give us valuable feedback, such as bug reports or improvement ideas. We will publish the list of users who won a free license after the final version of the product has been released, not before. All free licenses are decided on case-by-case, sometimes it takes just one message with two lines to earn a license (e.g. if you found a really good bug that no one else reported), sometimes it takes much more.

How to send your feedback

* Please use the Post Reply button of this thread for all feedback.

* If you are reporting a bug, please give as much information as possible in regards what steps are required to reproduce the problem. Also let us know what version of Windows you are using. There is no need to post the hardware configuration of your computer, unless asked.

* You can send attachments, including screenshots, to the thread from the Post Reply > Upload attachment tab (below the main text area).

* If you are reporting a bug that is not obvious, please include the Debug Log to your report. Note: the Debug Log contains information about your computer, if you do not wish other users to see all this information, you can use the Private Messages feature to send the Debug Log to us.

* If you are reporting a False Positive by the Clean and fix my computer tool, there is no need to send a Debug Log. To report a False Positive, simply send a Screenshot of the False Positive, and say what settings of the Clean and Fix My Computer you are using.

* You can also send you general feedback, how you feel the program works for you or if there is something you don't understand, or if some feature doesn't work the way you expected. Feedback like this is sometimes even more valuable than bug reports.

How to create a Debug Log

* If the problem doesn't cause PowerTools to crash: Go to the Main Window, open Debug menu and select "Save Debug Log". The Debug Log is saved to your Desktop.

* If the problem causes PowerTools to crash: Go to the installation directory of the program (c:\program files\PowerTools Lite 2011 BetaX\ by default) and create an empty file called "DebugMode.dat" there. Then start the program and re-create the problem. The Debug Log is being automatically saved to your desktop as you use the program.

Release Notes:

* This is fully functional software. Everything should be final, except the handbook is not done yet. The handbook will be included to the final release.

What's New (compared to PowerTools Lite Beta3)

Bug fix: The program still lists data by Alwil/Avast anti-virus even with the option to skip all data relating to anti-virus software enabled.

Bug fix: The program can access the floppy disk drive while performing the registry scan.

Bug fix: The main window's health gauges are not always correctly updated after an operation such as a registry cleanup.

Bug fix: The program can crash or freeze while fixing certain types of registry errors.

Improvement: The program will automatically search for a license during the Initial Setup.

Improvement: Improved the startup time of the program.

What's New (compared to PowerTools Lite 1.9.0.589)

* Comes with the registry cleaner engine of jv16 PowerTools 2011, with improved accuracy and 64 bit Windows support.

Dear Sirs,

1. After installing PT Lite 2011, the handbook is not available even it was checked during installation.

2. While preparing this report I was unable to find Debug Menu on the Main Window.

3. This version finds more than 100 invalid entries in registry even the registry was cleaned with jv16 before using PT Lite. After cleanup with PT Lite next use of JV16 Tools fund an extra error in registry. All this suggests that something is wrong since the engine for both programs is the same and default settings have been used for both programs.

This is correct. jv16PTLite-RC is still a beta version. The handbook will be made available for the 'official' jv16PTLite version, after all language translations are competed.

This is correct. Starting with the Release Code (RC) version jv16PT does not automatically start in DEBUG mode anymore. You can put it in DEBUG mode by pressing the 'Shift'+'Ctrl' keys. This will show DEBUG in the main menu. Open it and enable Debug mode, after that restart jv16PTLite.

Are you comparing jv16PTLite version RC with jv16PowerTools build 1053? Please keep in mind that the developer(jv16) stated earlier that jv16PTLite, at the same settings, is a 'little' more aggressive than the full jv16PT version. It is not uncommon that, after a first cleaning run, the second cleaning run finds again 1-2 items because the registry and temp files are changed in the meantime.

Ctrl+Shift puts JV16 into debug mode (DEBUG menu appeared in the menu bar), but it does not work in the case of PT Lite. I have checked it on both newest versions (1053) downloaded today.

I have been running this release for a couple of days now and it has been running flawlessly. I know that both PT Lite and PT 2011 are nearing completion which means our esteemed developer, jv16, will be looking for work? :)

I have one final suggestion to keep him busy awhile longer!

I was born to nitpick and critisize so to follow my designated path I suggest the GUI in both PT apps be modified, if possible, to place the popup windows created by mousing over the various features, in the blank space below the string of boxes outlining those features.

Since you can mouseover but one subject at a time it would seem to me that all popups could be displayed in the same space rather than running further and further to the right until they run outside the frame??

I'm not a programmer so I don't know what I'm talking about but I am a nitpicker and I like to keep all my ducks in a row. 8)

I think the change would give the interfaces a more "polished" appearance. YMMV

A strange behaviour?

Once you created a list with PT Lite RC1, click on any line to highlight it and then try to change lines with the up/down arrows: an empty window with a lonly "0" pos up. See screenshots. :

You have to click "OK" or cancel the window with the red "x" in order to continue working.

My system: win7 ult 32

Indeed, the popup was caused by a piece of debug code left behind in the code. The issue is now fixed.

1. The item Program maintenance in menu Tools in Backup Tools doesn´t work. Is the "forgotten" item from jv16 PowerTools? See PTLite_debuglog.html

2. The invalid info in License Tool - see LicenseTool.jpg.

3. The function Highlithed in menu Select doesn´t work. Steps to reproduction:
