Ive not updated in a while and am using .1009. After hearing about problems with update I am wondering if I should hold off for a while.

Is there a unwritten consensus to stay away from any updates at this time-even .1043? I use English Windows XP

NO, there is no need to hold off. All English Windows versions are working properly with jv16PT2011 v2.0.0.1043.
