In regard to the instructions for changing permissions viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3898&p=20992&hilit=tricky#p20992 I need some clarification. What is meant by "the last key in the structure" and "the top of the structure", also "next low key in the structure".

I am asking because my actions did not produce the necessary results. Thanks for any help.

In the RegEdit example pictured below:

TIP is "the last key in the structure"

Language is the initial "next low key in the structure"

Working up the tree, the successive "next low keys in the structure" are SortOrder, MSUTB, HiddenDummyLayouts, DirectSwitchHotkeys, DefaultCompositionWindow, and so on up to Assemblies, then finally, CTF

CTF is "the top of the structure"

More generally, "the top of the structure" is the top key for which you wish to take ownership.
