Automation Tool:

1. The Delete button invokes the backup dialog, but does not backup the selected task, and nothing is deleted.

2. Many of the right click menu options do nothing. For example, Explore, Edit, Edit manually, Properties.

3. The Run now button produces this message: : File "" does not exist. The jvb (below) looks correct.

All these problems have been confirmed and fixed, thank you for reporting! The problems were all caused by the implementation of the Tag System. The fixes will be included to the next released beta build.

Here is the Change Log so far:

Bug fix: Clicking Software Uninstaller -> Uninstall... -> Abort causes the program to crash to Access Violation.

Bug fix: The Debug>Unit Testing Tool promptly crashes if SystemRecovery1 or SystemRecovery2 directories do not exist under the Backups directory of PowerTools.
Bug fix: The Debug>Unit Testing Tool reports Error: RegCompact.exe too small! 
Bug fix: Settings-->Advanced interface-->Use click effects for the tool icons gives you instead the "fade in, fade out" effects.
Bug fix: Program can crash to Access Violation relating to function "TTagSystem.Store"

Improvement: Flushing the cache with the Maintenance Tool now forces the program to be restarted. 
Improvement: History Cleaner and Clean and fix my computer features no longer show "failed to access" error messages on certain common items.
Improvement: Added a tip to let the user to know how to use the Tag System.
Improvement: Main window's Tools > Add shortcut to desktop feature now uses the icon of the specific tool. E.g. if you create a shortcut to desktop for jv16 PowerTools' Registry Cleaner, its shortcut will use the Registry Cleaner icon.
Improvement: Added an option to disable tool window fadeout effect from the Settings.

XP-SP3 with v2.0.0.988:

Few seconds later jv16PT-2011-Beta1 terminates without an application error, so no Bugreport.txt but only a Debuglog.html

About 1 minute after replying 'Yes' on the Removing(or modifying) message..... an application 'Freeze' error follows.

I thought to remember that, during the beta testing of jv16PT-2010, it was more or less decided to

drop in Registry Cleaner the option "Reference mode" in 'the' final version. Am I mistaken?

The Un-ignore button fails to remove a selected item.

This was with the History Cleaner. "Sun java" was selected and "un-ignored" four times but it stayed on the "never show" list.

1. I selected Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U18 and clicked Uninstall.

2. The Uninstall Software window came up and became populated.

3. I examined the Registry data and Files information.

4. I looked the Advanced settings information and clicked Re-Analyze.

5. The exception detector window appeared showing an AV exception; I clicked "continue application."

6. I clicked Uninstall in the Uninstall Software window; nothing happened.

7. I clicked Delete, said Yes to continue, and Yes to backup.

8. The exception detector window appeared again showing an AV exception; I clicked "continue application."

9. Again, I clicked Delete, said Yes to continue, and Yes to backup.

11. The jv16pt.exe process left the system.

An Empty directories action in an automated System Cleaner task keeps running and removing files even after you click Abort.

Even after you Close/Cancel that task, it stays on the task bar and the process keeps using 25% of quad CPUs. It has to be killed.

An Empty directories action in an automated System Cleaner task removed all the files in a structure, but left 60 empty subfolders.

Before starting, the structure contained 7380 files and 135 subfolders.

The task continued to run using a steady 25% of quad CPUs, but did nothing more.

Clicking Abort made no difference.

Clicking Cancel caused the task's window to go away, but it remained on the task bar and continued using a steady 25% of quad CPUs.

After a minute or so, it disappeared from the task bar and stopped using the CPUs.

However, the jv16pt.exe process still showed in the Task Manager. It had to be killed.

This is the text on the "Empty directories" tab:

"When a directory is EMPTIED all of the data that it contains will be removed. That is, all the files and subdirectories will be removed."

The empty folders were left because they contained a folder named "ignore_this" which was a match to the Global Ignore List.

However, it deleted files with these names: and_ignore_this_too.txt and and_ignore_me_too.txt.

Service Manager gets an immediate access violation when I click "Optimize."

Issue confirmed and fixed, thank you for reporting! This issue was also created by the implementation of the Tag System. Similar problems may still be found from the program, but they are very easy to fix.

Startup Manager loops on the warning message shown here. Whether you click Yes or No, the pop-up always comes back. You have to kill PowerTools.

I cannot confirm this problem. Does this occur when disabling or removing an item, or both? Does it happen every time?

Registry Manager: I tried to delete the Filetype xbin_backup. It gave me the backup dialog and the line dropped from the list.

However, the key was not deleted and nothing was backed up.

I cannot reproduce this problem. Does it occur with other filetypes as well?
