Why are the registry hives (?) not being compacted if there is less than 1% savings ? Or whatever the threasold would be.

What would be the use of compacting registry hives if the compaction gain is e.g. only 0,5%?

I think it is a matter of efficiency to only compact hives if a certain compaction gain can be accomplished.
