ran the cleaner - found 2385 errors - fixed them.

ran it again immediately after - found 883 errors - fixed them.

After each run, my SpywareGuard alerted me that "an attempt to change IE settings has been detected - WARNING - IE default page has been changed".

Fortunately, I am able to 'Restore old value'.

NOW, whenever I run the Registry Cleaner, attempts to change my IE settings is detected, AND I am unable to remove these entries (C:\SEARCHPAGE.HTML) from the registry (CATCH 22).!!!!!

My system is clean, I have no viruses BUT it appears that the tools2005 program itself is the problem.

Appreciate any advice / help. Thanks in advance

If there is no file called Searchpage.html on your C:\ disk. Then PowerTools wants to remove it, becouse it is an erronius entrie.

If for some reason SpywareGuard thinks this needs to be there, and protects that registry entrie, both tools are in conflict with each other.

So 1 put it to the 'Always ignore' list of PowerTools, or let SpywareGuard ignore it.

There is no c:\searchpage.html on my hard drive, but there are two entries in my registry, which I believe are my SpywareGuards protection against changes to my IE settings.

I posted the entry into the 'ignore list' and the Warning did not pop up as before.

Lookin' good now.

Glad it is fixed now.

Becouse the file isn't on your disk, and is in the registry, PowerTools sees this as an error/useless entrie in the registry and therefore wants to remove it :).
