Disabling fade-in/fade-out of tool windows?

I've just upgraded from the 2008 version (skipped 2009, for whatever reason) and am interested in the new interface. A couple of questions, though (possibly already in the Manual, which I did also download but haven't yet searched):

1. I like the new "health" percentage displays for the system and registry. Is there any quick way to access a report or log on what the scan found to bring this percentage down?

2. More important, subjectively anyway ... is there any way to get rid of the fading-out effect when you close a tool window and have it simply close, to speed things up? (Also the fade-in of the main window afterwards?) I did find an analogous item in Settings relating to tool icons, but this doesn't seem to affect tool windows even after restarting.

Look in the jv16 Power Tools Installation director, go to the settings sub-director. Open the file interface.dat. At the bottom of this file, under heading Effects, are two keywords controling fading. Change 'True' in 'False' and do a restart of jv16 Power Tools. According the developer this only works in buid 961 (=official release) and later.

Perhaps the option in Settings to disable the fade effect of the tool icons should also disable the fade out effect of the tool windows. What do you think?

Sounds like a great idea, please consider it for the "wish list". Even if it's a separate option, having it available in Settings, rather than having to edit what in effect is an ini, would be a big help.

No info yet on how to find details on those "health" percentages?

Oops, almost forgot ... Thanks, Leonardo, for the info on editing interface.dat, did the trick just fine. My avast a-v has the same problem, some settings can only be changed by editing its ini and aren't accessible via its Setup menu.

No info yet on how to find details on those "health" percentages?

I think only the developer can answer this question.

I agree w/Roberta that this should be easier to do.

I hate to merge features like these to a single check box, but I cannot simply just add a new option called "Use fade out effect for tool windows" because such string doesn't exist in the translation file and would force all the translation files to be updated. This is not important enough thing to ask our translators to do.

There is one quick way: run the Clean and fix my computer tool. The registry and PC health bars are calculated based on the results this tool finds.

Me too, I'd very much like to have the fade in disabled, in other words, shot at dawn : :)

Many thanks from me too, since I started this topic in the first place. Any rough guesstimate of what the scheduling looks like for the next release? I know typically you've been doing one new version a year, but I hadn't paid any attention to whether you also do sub-versions (or patches) for this kind of thing.

The next build with this improvement will be released most likely later in this week.
