It's not that easy. The idea of the Home screen is to show what you can do with the program. Therefore it doesn't list the names of the features (e.g. "Anti-Malware"), but instead what you can actually do with the feature (e.g. "Verify my downloads are safe to run").

This is an usability issue and it was designed to make the program easier to use. Another reason was that we had hard time in coming up with a feature that basically cleans and fixes one's entire system. So we wanted to call that "Clean and fix my computer".

So if we just renamed "Speed up my computer" to "System Optimizer", that wouldn't be good for consistency because now some features in the Home screen would be named by the tool names, and some by their action/benefit.

I think a better option would be to remove System Optimizer icon under the System Tools category and fully rename the tool as "Speed up my computer" and have it shown only on the Home screen.

But like I said, I agree that this issue needs some thinking but we'll probably do it for PT 2011.

Thanks, Leonardo. I firmly believe it's the small though obvious things that matter. Even though PT 2010 has the best Registry Cleaner engine on the market, customers will notice misspellings and graphical inconsistencies first, calling into question the overall quality and professionalism of the product. I really want this product to be state-of-the art, something reviewers and customers alike will rave about.

I was thinking just the other way around:

In jv16 2010, rename "System Optimizer" to "Speed up my Computer", that makes it consistent (for the time being) with 'Clean and Fix my Computer'.

Minor cosmetic issue:

Throughout the program, there appears to be a somewhat inconsistent use of 'Cancel' and 'Close' on window exit buttons. I can't discern a pattern as to when one is used over the other. Is this purposeful?

For example, Startup Manager has a "Close" button because you can delete or disable items and then close the window by clicking the Close button.

However, Startup Manager's 'Create new' window can be only used if the OK button is clicked. In other words, if the user clicks the Cancel/Close button, no action was performed, therefore the button has a caption of "Cancel", meaning that nothing was done, the operation was canceled.

Did this clear it up?

This issue should now be fixed, thank you for reporting! I say "should be" because I wasn't able to reproduce the problem myself and thus I cannot test if it's now fixed or not.

The next build with this fix included will be released in 24h.

According to the Debug Log, the Descriptions are not shown because you have the network setting disabled for the Startup Manager. You can enable this from the Settings tool under the Network tab, does enabling that fix the issue?

I have also made some changes in an attempt to fix the inconstant number of listed items. If either of the problem still occurs with the next build, please send a new Debug Log if you could. I added some more debug code.

XP-Pro-SP3 with jv16_RC1_build-955:

2nd run Unit Test, completed normal, but with 3-4 errors.

I now added the Unit Test log (as .doc file) next to the Debug log and a Screen shot!
