The progress bar very slowly reaches the end, but the hourglass wheel keeps spinning and never stops. So the tool doesn't finish. I had to click the Abort button but that doesn't help. I had to Close the thing.

Uninstall

Doesn't work properly. In spite of the fact that I had checked everything to remove, the Cache folder and the MainSettings.dat file weren't removed. The main folder wasn't removed either and the Program folder wasn't removed from the Start Menu.

Well, I will stop the tests and wait for the fixed (and hopefully) better release.

This beta2 isn't great a success for the poor Windows 7 64-bit user :

I'm rather disappointed in this release, especially after all the promising things I had read in the developper blogs...

I stopped testing on x64 Win 7 after logging the following items. Some have not been mentioned elsewhere in this topic.

Observations (current Beta):

The Main window becomes readable with x64 Windows 7 if the theme used is the Windows Classic theme. || 660 #1

Per the developer, Beta 2 (660) is pretty much unusable on x64 Windows 7. Switched to x86 Vista.

In the lists below, several fixes are confirmed with version 660 using x86 Vista. Confirmed fixes are tagged with |.|.

Failed version 660 fixes, and some retested but not yet fixed items, are tagged with |..|.

Observations (prior Betas):

Beta 1 When Reference mode is used in the Registry Cleaner, it can show possible "false positives" not shown with Normal mode. || 644 #6 In Beta 1 (using normal scanning mode and a very aggressive scan), there are no flagrant Registry Cleaner "false positives" on my x86 or x64 Vista desktops. There are several issues with the handling of the Wow6432Nodes on the x64 system. I'll probably include my XP Pro and Windows 7 notebooks in a later beta (they are x86 Oses). || 644 #5 Fifty-three issues are enough for Beta 1. What is the Beta 2 ETA? Registry scans are much faster compared to PT2009 1.9.0.606. For example: || 644 #4 Registry Cleaner (aggressive), 66 versus 139 seconds Registry Cleaner (normal), 40 versus 134 seconds Registry Finder (all scan options), 85 versus 205 seconds Registry Finder (all scan options+approximate), 85 versus N/A seconds Aggressive 606 found 114 items versus 8 for 644, probably due to a conservative approach with a new engine. There are significantly fewer hangs and crashes compared to the “TestVers” – good job! || 644 #2

The jv16 Powertools 2010 program uninstaller does not remove/uninstall files and folders when a full uninstall of jv16 is requested. This is on Windows 7 x64 and x86.

Issue confirmed, Hukka is working on a fix. It will be included to the next beta version.

Thanks for the debug log, I have found the problem. Under 64 bit Windows the Messaging component fails to initialize, every time the program attempts to use the Messaging component (i.e. show a message window to the user) the call fails and any code after the call is automatically aborted.

This is why nothing worked with Beta2: all the tools use the Messaging component.

The issue is already fixed and I personally verified the fix with a 64 bit Vista box. But I want to do a few other fixes before releasing the new version.

I'm still getting what i think is a false hit on the reg cleaner in regards to photomail maker. the files it points to do exist so i don't want to remove them and cause the program to stop working. It is the same files as in the screenshot i sent for the last beta.

Is this item listed by the "Add / remove software list scan" module? You can check this by running only this scan (only this item checked under Advanced Engine Settings).
