Maybe it doesn't work in Windows 7 64-bit either, although I'm under the impression that the "bug" in Vista had been fixed in Win7?

In the very early test versions of PT 2010, it did work fine on Windows 7 x64. Then something changed in PT 2010 and it stopped working...just like it does not work in Vista x64. That, to me, points the finger at PT...not Windows 7 x64 or Vista x64....or something in the compiler used for PT.

It's a random issue that only occurs under 64 bit Vista and Windows 7. What I have gathered, it seems to be less frequent under Windows 7 but still an issue. We'll find a way around it.

I like the look and feel of the jv16 PowerTools 2010 Beta1 version 2.0.0.644. Most of the options appear to work correctly, although the Registry Cleaner locked up my computer the first time I executed that application. On the downside, my McAfee Security Suite seems to be having some issues with this version of PowerTools.

Since installation of the jv16 PowerTools 2010 Beta1 version 2.0.0.644, whenever my computer is started or rebooted, the desktop seems to hesitate as the icons appear on the desktop. In the process, my McAfee Security Suite comes up and displays a message that my computer is no longer protected. Two events are logged and reported by Windows XP Professional System Tools.

The following event is logged by McAfee Security Suite and reported in System Tools -> Event Viewer -> Application:

When running the registry cleaner I get what i think is a false positive on photomail maker. This is currently installed and is part of my incredimail program. It is listed under obsolete add/remove menu entry

Could you take a screenshot of the contents of the associated registry key? Even if the software is currently installed and working properly, it can still have an incorrect add/remove menu entry.

Is there a chance the Registry Compactor finally works in Windows 7 64-bit with jv16 PowerTools 2010?

In fact that tool should work, isn't it, because it DOES work properly in other software like Windows 7 Manager, Ace Utilities and TuneUp Utilties, even in NTRegOpt when launched with full Aministrator privileges or UAC disabled...

Because Microsoft has changed the way the system API functions work that are required for running the compact operation. We will try to get the Registry Compactor to work with Windows 7.

The feature is fully heuristic (i.e. there are no signatures) and the engine has been developed by Macecraft.

I had to do a clean re-install of the windows 7 x64 retail version of the operating system. After re-installing the jv16 2010 beta1 program, i ran the jv16 2010 beta1 and after the pre-check both the pc and registry health was @ 1%. I ran the "Clean and fix my computer" and selected "Fix" and the pc an registry health showed 100% - ran the "clean and fix my computer" a second time and the display window hung not showing the "Analyze the computer progress bar" and reporting "Not Responding".

I closed jv16 2010 beta1 program and started it again and ran the "Clean and fix my computer" again and it finished correctly the first time, but some of the temp files and registry errors would not remove (see attachments) - the second time i ran the procedure it hung the same way with "Not Responding" and no progress bar! The third run repeated the same results.

I know this has been reported before, but maybe more information will help with the fix. - Shorto

However, just found 2 minor bugs(?)- On Settings-Interface-

a. Transparency effect won't enable.

b. Last item (of 5) listed end - "Highlight selected lines" (?) is only 1/2 visible, with top

1/2 of lettering missing.

Anyone else know of this?

Transparency is being removed in PT 2010

On item b, just resize the window. Go to the lower right corner of the window, click and drag the window to resize the window.

This will be fixed in the next beta version, the user interface of the Settings tool will be fully redesigned.

This is because I want to keep all the feedback organized and available for everyone. When everyone sends their feedback via the forum, all testers can see what other testers have already reported so they know what to expect, and they know what issues have already been reported.

Just installed jv16 powertools 2010 Beta 4, and I've again in my XP SP3 the same bad sorting (concerning installation date column), exactly as 2009 version.

My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. When I tested the jv16 Power Tools 2010 Beta1 Anti-Malware function on 5286 files on my C:\Inetdnld Folder on the Drive, the test would alternate between "Running" and "Not Responding" during the entire test that required over 16 hours to complete! Disabling the Microsoft Security Essentials Anti-Virus/Malware program had no effect on the operating Anti-Malware test that was in progress. The Anti-Malware check did finally complete after 16 hours of running time. The log file and screenshot are attached. - Regards - - - Shorto
