What do error codes mean?

The Registry Cleaner (1.9.1.606) returned a number of errors with code 122. For example:

Failed to remove "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VirtualStore"! Windows core returned the following error: "122"

What is error 122? The Handbook does not discuss error codes. Where can I find the meaning of these codes?

As this message says, it's an error code from your Windows system, so you can look overhere for the explanation:

You have answered my questions to the point. Thank you for taking the time to help. System code 122 means "The data area passed to a system call is too small."

This raises the question that I should have asked in the first place: Why does Registry Cleaner get this error instead of simply fixing or deleting the bad keys? Could this be a bug in Registry Cleaner?
