Can't fix all errors (was: Norton won't fix!)

using registry cleaner, i can fix all my registry error except those which involve norton - and a few others.\

Examples:

what are these, what is wrong and how to fix them?

What's wrong?

The "DirectInput" keys, and possibly the "norton" ones, do not have "Full control" permissions for the Administrators group. That group includes your userid, and thus, PowerTools.

How to fix them?

Such keys can't be removed, or their entries updated, unless the permissions are changed. Sometimes, the key owner has to be changed first to the Administrators group. Both can be done manually with RegEdit, or you can use the "Ignore words" tab to hide such keys.

What are they?

The "DirectInput" items result from some program you ran that used windows' "Direct Input" functions. The entry or data probably references an invalid file or directory.

I can't tell much about the "norton" items from just the duplicates of the key you posted. I guess each of the duplicate key lines showed a different invalid file or directory path ... ?

Norton's Tamper Protection is preventing jv16 from removing these keys. You should not remove these keys. It will break your Norton product. In the registry cleaner and Clean and Fix, you should add the words Norton and Symantec to the IGNORE list. jv16 will then not detect these keys.

Starting with the next build, these errors are no longer listed by the Registry Cleaner.

This last post must be removed asap. It has only one purpose: publicity for a website. Just look at the links in the signature.

I think the user should be banned completely from our forum too: it's a new way of spam.

Also this post from "RamonShaffren" must be removed for the same reason and also this user should be banned. It's just spam.
