jv16 PT update 590 and Windows Explorer

hello everyone,

until yesterday I was very happy with jv16 PT,but then I installed the newest Update 1.9.0.590 and did my first registry cleaning. About 2500 errors were fixed.

Now I have problems with Windows Explorer, which fails to execute shortcuts to folders on my desktop. Also the former system recovery files are no more available.

My machine is a DELL Precision 690, OS: XP Professional with SP 3

can somebody help me ?

What settings did you use in the Registry Cleaner?

Have you tried to restore the backups Registry Cleaner has made?

The same thing happened to me, I actually blamed another app.... :? .

However, here's the fix for your shortcut problem, it is from Doug Knox (a well known Windows guru) http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/folder_reg.zip

Just unzip the file, then double click the "folder_reg" file and you should be good to go.

Hi,

In the 'Advanced engine settings' I have all the boxes, except 'ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE scan', ticked.

Perhaps stupidly : , I did'nt make a backup before running PowerTools.

Maybe coincidentally, both I, and user 'docdawihl', installed updates to our graphics cards about he same time

as updating to, and running jv16 1.9.0.590.

That's really the only info I can provide, sorry.

I chose the first option (Always create a backup before removing or modifying anything). It does it automatically that way and doesn't show me the box. Better safe than sorry.
