I don't understand how this program can have so many bugs? The software uninstaller doesn't work, I was told yesterday from Steve online that the Registry Cleaner has problems... should I go on? I think not! All you have to do is scan the forum and it's obvious this program is developing at the cost of wreaking havoc on unsuspected computer users who have trusted this program to perform outstandingly. You would think after all these years there would be some kind of perfection going into the development of this product but not so. I was hoping this was the Crem da la Crem of all registry cleaners and it's just another big disappointed and disaster in the waiting if you run it. The last several versions have caused me to reinstall my OS to the point where I have no faith in the product anymore. Obviously, I'm not happy with JV16, and I'm sure once the developer reads this topic it will be stricken. I would hope that the developer would take this constructively instead of negatively... I guess we will have to wait and see. By and large there needs to be stability with this product after all these years and I just don't see this forthcoming. Anyway, that's my two cents for whatever it's worth.

If you wish to discuss about specific bugs, please tell me (and the rest of us) what bugs you are exactly referring to, and please do it in this thread.

That was Quick! Okay, for starters, what is the issue with the Registry Cleaner running Service Pack 3? I inquired as to the safety of running the registry cleaner and it was suggested that I wait on the forthcoming update towards the end of the month. Please elaborate. In addition, the uninstall feature simply does not work. And the handbook does a rather poor job of explaining the procedure to use when using the Software Uninstaller. For instance. You have three tabs, Registry Data, Files, and Advanced Settings. Let's taka a program that has the installer intact. You will find entries under each one of these tabs. Are you supposed to put check marks for each entry for the Registry Data and Files tab? This is confusing, anyway, this is not explained well in the manual. Bottom line, by going to the Advanced Tab and clicking the Custom Uninstall button, nothing happens... and I mean nothing.

On a positive note, I have been a valued customer of JV16 for many years and I remember using this program without hardly ever having an issue back in the days of versions 1.3 and 1.4. In fact, JV16 was all I ever trusted to get the job done. Obvisously, there are some nice features in JV16 2009. I guess I have unrealistic expectations when it comes to JV16 having been a customer for so many years. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Well, no actually... those were the only two issues I happen to discuss in my thread. Actually, I have had other issues that I could begin to pinpoint other than the fact that JV16 2009 destroying my registry which led to a complete reinstall of my OS twice now. Go figure! Glitches, Bugs, it all amounts to the same frustration and hours of rebuilding my system over a product that's not quite ready for prime time. Nice Graphics though!!!

I'm running it that way and I have yet to have to re-install because of PowerTools screwing the WHOLE registry up. You've got something else going on somewhere, my friend.

I had to restore my computer with a compleet backup too, because of bugs. (version 550)

So you are not the only one, be happy

I tried version 552 (the keyb del button works again however I have selecting and deleting problems with reg cleaner;

cleaner tools problems) and returned to version 450 temporarely.

Next week I will install my version 2008 again (time, time).

I know it's a paradox. Note: this product version is no longer supported, feel free to use this product if you want but please remember that if you encounter any problem with it you should update to jv16 PowerTools 2009.

Boofo and Hanzie, please report here what exactly did happen. One line comments about you being forced to reinstall Windows because of bugs do not help anyone.

As I already said, I am using version 450 again and next week, I will install Powertools 2008 again. ( I first have to find the latest version and my key)

Version 2008 and all the other versions worked fine on my xp machine. I never had any problems untill version 550 and 552.

( I already mentioned under topic 'Del key .. no function' that I had to do a restore with a complete backup)

I can understand that you want us to report what exactly happened.

However time is money and - so to speak - I am not in your developing team to troubleshoot or investigate bugs further on.

Version 2008 is doing fine, that's it and it saves me from wasting time with version 2009.

I think, you being a developer will certainly understand this, as for an enduser, software must be a pleasure and a confidence to work with.

I think you do agree now, that I explained my one line comment now , considering all my other postings to. So, no reporting anymore.

In such case, if user does not wish to discuss the problems/bugs he experienced with more detail, I do not think they should also bother to mention them with one line comments of the PowerTools being buggy either. Because that way we cannot really say if there really is a bug (or is the user simply using the program incorrectly), nor what is the severity of the possible bug.

This may seem harsh but very often users report bugs they call serious which after closer examination end up being minor bugs at most, or simply lack of understanding how some feature works for example.

I am not a newbie, since I am using a computer since 1981 (dos) ..

I can see the difference between a bug, a misunderstanding, a misinterpretation of a feature, misusing software, trying out software,

a deleted item by accident or on purspuse, and so on. Fact is that version 552 is (also) giving trouble on my pc and I do not want to spend more time ...

That's why I return to version 2008, trouble-free, trouble free machine...

I assume you are happy for me .....

You read that wrong. I said I DIDN'T run into that problem and that he must have something else causing the registry to go bad enough for a re-install.

In any case, if the thread is called "Back to the Drawing Board For JV16 2009" I'm expecting to get a list of very serious problems in the product. So far I have seen none.

Well, don't include me in those that are saying they had to re-install because of PowerTools. I have not had that problem (being forced to re-install the OS) with the program. They are doing something other than just running PowerTools to cause that. More people would be reporting it if it was the program causing it. It's easy to blame someone, or something, else when we don't want to admit we messed up. :
