I'm using AVG 8.5 and was able to install and run Version 552 by adding it to the Exceptions list in AVG. PT2009 works as advertised.

I would like to point out that AVG is well known for its False Positive detections (& False Negatives).....

So it IS up to AVG to fix the problems that their not thoroughly tested viral signatures (combined with their Very basic heuristics) cause to their users.....

The bottom line is that our product changed between versions 550 and 552 and now AVG displays a false virus detection message. There is nothing we can do about it, it's their mistake and they can only fix it.

In the mean time, you can simply add PowerTools to AVG's exclusion list so it will stop showing the warning.

Ever since AVG transitioned from its version 7.5 to version 8.0, and now 8.5, I have a lot of problems with it--especially with its updating. Most of the times that I tried to update it, I kept getting server connection failure messages.

AVG's inability to co-exist with the new release of jv16 PT was the last straw with AVG for me. I uninstalled AVG and installed Avira AntiVir, which is another free anti-virus program. Avira AV co-exits with jv16 PT just fine.

I only wish I had dumped AVG in favor of Avira AV a long time ago when I read some objective reviews saying that Avira AV is a better product than AVG, anyway. It is. A full system scan with AVG took nearly two hours on my computer. A full system scan with Avira AV takes about 30 minutes. Never any problems with updating Avira AV, either.

I would have explained that it is the packer setting AVG off, as it does on almost any packed program. AVG is notorious for that. Always has been and always will be. It makes AVG look like it actually finds something.

I had the same problem with jv16 PowerTools 2009 build 552 and AVG 8.5. But I downloaded jv16 again 10 minutes ago and installed it while AVG was running a system scan and it installed just fine.

So my advice would be for those of you that are running AVG to try to install 1.9.0.552 again.

According to my latest VirusTotal scan, AVG is no longer detecting jv16PT.exe as a virus. You should not need to redownload/install jv16 PT Build 552.
