Cookie Manager

I run v 1.5.300. In error, I started the Cookie Manager with IE 6 running and got the message to shut down the browser. This I did and when I relaunched CM got the same message. Task Manager confirmed that IE 6 was dead. Shut down all tasks (desparate move). CM still complained.

I could only get CM running by rebooting.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas, comments?

Hello,

On my system (XP-Home/SP2/IE 6) it's working fine.

The browser opened, I get the message to shut down the browser.

When this is done Cookie Manager works even without restarting PowerTools.

Just an info:

The newest version of PowerTools is allready: 1.5.1. 306.

May be the problem was resolved in a further update ?

Hello,

Update - same thing in History Manager. I have discovered that it is NOT sufficient not to have a browser (in my case IE6 xpsp2) running. The problem appears if the browser has been used prior to running either CM or HM. The only way I can use CM or HM is if I reboot and run CM or HM immediately.

Weird. Maybe I will try reinstalling jv162005. Incidentally, I have upgraded IE to sp2 but not the OS which is XP Pro SP1.

I have tryed it also, and i also don't have any problems when i have IE opened and then closed.

It works imidiately.

A Clean install mabye can help :).

I did an uinstall and a reinstall of the .306 version and it still does the same!

FWIW - I uninstalled .300, downloaded .306 and installed it. The problems with CM (and HM) have disappeared. :)

As a ps: I had installed jv16 to D:\Program Files\.... and was wondering if this could have caused the difficulty but v. ...306 is also installed here and seems without problems.

No!!

When you access the Cookie and History manager you will get a splash screen asking you to close your browser.

If your browser - Internet Explorer, Firefo, Opera, ... - is running, this is a normal message, which has to be there for security reasons.

Just only close your browser and try again with Cookie and History Manager.

Then the message should not appear anymore.

But if your browser was not running when you started CM & HM, then ... I'm afraid I don't have a solution for the moment.
