A Custom Uninstall for this software listed 54 registry items. Of these, 45 were for unrelated server software.

Also, just clicking "Uninstall" on the main list's window actually tried to delete many of the unrelated items. Many got "Accessed denied" responses from windows. I just restored the backup to avoid potential problems.

I strongly suggest that the word server be excluded from the Custom Uninstall and Uninstall search routines!

This is what I deleted manually in Custom Uninstall, ignoring the unrelated items:

If the tool can delete unrelated registry items with the main list's Uninstall button, the advisory in the Handbook needs to be stronger (quoted below).

Also, backup of the registry items should be automatic and unconditional with use of that button.

That is not necessary with the Custom Uninstall because the user is presented with details to examine.

The Uninstall button doesn't use the extracted information (such as the Installation Path) without

asking permission. If you wish to delete all traces of the software you must use the Custom

Uninstall feature

You are correct, I have added the word "server" to the built-in list of too generic software names. I don't know if there is any need to change the handbook, though.

I only mentioned that because "Uninstall" caused no dialog with the package uninstaller and none with PowerTools (there was the PT backup dialog of course).

It seems this type package uninstaller just had a brief invisible conversation with the Java Web Start program, and PT, unprompted, did the rather lengthy search for and removal of the unrelated registry items.
