Win98 SE: jv16 1.8.0.467 closed due to an invalid operation

Hi,

although I

- deinstalled jv16 1.8.0.467

- transfered License.xbin to the desktop

- removed directory \Programme\jv16 PowerTools 2008

- cleaned the registry using Registry First Aid

- rebooted the computer

- installed jv16 1.8.0.467

an error under Windows 98SE (patched completely) persists: Upon closure of jv16 1.8.0.467 a first window pops-up saying "Jv16pt This application is closed due to an invalid operation" with details:

Exception error eedfadeH in Modul <Unknown> at 0000.

After closure of this window a second window pops-up saying "Application Error Exception EInvalidPointer in module JV16PT.exe at 00002EE4. Invalid pointer operation."

Is there any remedy known?

That is a known issue described here.

I believe Macecraft intends to attempt a fix, but it probably has a low priority.

That is correct, this problem affects only people using a very old operating system (Win98) and the problem doesn't cause any harm, therefore it's the lowest priority issue.

The same problem also occurs in Windows ME.

The issue list description for this now reads "jv16 PowerTools, fails on exiting in Win 98 (and Windows ME)" instead of "jv16 PowerTools, fails on exiting in Win 98."

Product jv16 is advertised and sold with support for Windows 98SE.

The age of this operating system and the number of people using Windows 98SE, therefore, doesn't matter.

The problem causes harm in that

- two jv16 error windows have to be clicked away every time jv16 is closed

- the error logs of Windows 98SE systems fill-up unnecessarily

- people suspect unknown follow-up errors in their Windows 98SE systems once the jv16 error windows are clicked away

Frankly speaking, this error is a real nuissance for customers ...

As said, this is a known problem and it's very low priority. I hope it will be fixed but I can't promise we will put a lot of time in fixing the problem because it's only a minor nuisance.
