Handbook improvement ideas

In some topic someone (sorry, I don't remember who or where) listed a few improvement ideas for the handbook of jv16 PowerTools.

So, if you have any suggestions, please list them here and I'll try to fulfill your wishes the next I sit down to write the handbook.

Also, you can use this thread to report spelling and grammar errors in the handbook you wish to get fixed.

English is not my first language, so as Yoda would say: errors some appear may, yes.

Hi, I do not find any information about the Software Manager in the handbook for jv16 Power Tools 2005. Is this intentional?

The information about the Software Manager you should find on page 22 and 23.

Just have once more a look.

Under Duplicate Finder, it would be handy to briefly illustrate the proper "syntax" for listing multiple file types, multiple folders, etc., when setting up new preferences.

Hi Jepe, Your assisatance is appreciated. I have jv16 Power Tools 1.5.1.300. I did a search within Acrobat for "Software Manager " and nothing was found in Handbook.pdf, dated 2/22/2005.

Scan Report appears on page 22 You will see a detailed Scan Report after the Registry Cleaner's scan is finished. The Scan Reportshows you some statistics about the scan, such as how long it took, how many items were analyzedand so on. and continues on page 23 ....The results of the Registry Cleaner are listed in the Registry Cleaner window after the scan iscompleted. All the items listed are erroneous and should be safe to remove.

I just downloaded the Handbook again. I must have an older edition on my system. The newly downloaded book does have the info that I am looking for. Thanks, Jepe, for helping me with this.

I realized by two or three topics now, that peoples had an old version of the handbook.

To make it easier to check this, may be it would be a good idea to integrate the date of issue

1) to the handbook itself - the best place might be on the first page, above or under the title,

2) to the different translations at the Support page.

There could be added a short note about the improvements done in the newest version.

After finishing my Dutch translation of jv16PT2005's Handbook in OpenOffice.org v1.5, I have installed the new version of OpenOffice.org 2.0.

Well, I have discovered the following new nice feature for the Handbook.

As you know, in OpenOffice.org you can export your documents (such as the Handbook) as PDF-files ...

There is a new option now under the General PDF Options, namely "Tagged PDF". When you tick off that option, you select to export special tags into the corresponding PDF tags. Some tags that are exported are TABLE OF CONTENTS, hyperlinks and controls.

Especially "Table of Contents" is very interesting ...

I have exported my Dutch translation of the Handbook as PDF-file with the option "Tagged PDF" enabled and in Adobe Reader I can click a tab "Bookmarks" now. "Bookmarks" contains now exactly the whole Table of Contents of the Handbook made in OpenOffice.org 2.0 and ...

when clicking on a chapter or section you jump directly to that very page in the text itself of the Handbook :

I remember in one of the threads of this forum a member asked for such a feature, but till now it was impossible to create it.

Well, now it's possible for all the future versions of any Handbook.

Tomorrow I'll send you my Dutch translations of jv16PT2005's program and Handbook. As to the Handbook I'll send you the document both in OpenOffice.org format and in PDF-format , so you'll see with your own eyes how nice it is :

Just now I have seen that the "Bookmarks" option was already present in the latest version of the original English Handbook.

I didn't notice that earlier ... I can't imagine why :?

I have no idea since when that feature was present in the English Handbook?
