Coping with "The handle is invalid"

I'm trying to delete the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PerfLib\009 key, as it is corrupt.

I trust jv16 (I'm using v1.8.0.460), but when I find that key, all tools report "The handle is invalid."

Any ideas on how to delete the registry key so it can be recreated?
