Slow Opening (1.8.0.459)

Am I the only one who finds 2008 very slow to open? The tab takes about 6 seconds to appear and the program another 10 seconds to open on screen, plus a few more to run through initialization. The functions of the program itself work at normal speed. I don't think this problem happened at first with 2008, but started sometime maybe two or three months ago, perhaps after an update. Alternatively, maybe something got cleaned out that shouldn't have. The drive is regularly defragmented and not any of the many other apps I use is having this slowness. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried reinstalling the program?

If that doesn't work, could you please start the program, after it has started up, press down Ctrl + Shift and select from the Debug menu "enable debug mode". Then, restart the program, wait it to fully start and then send here the created DebugLog.txt from your desktop.

Even slower after uninstalling, cleaning registry and new installation. I ran debug, but the forum won't allow uploading the file (jv16PT_debuglog.txt): "The extension txt is not allowed."

Thank you for sending the debug log, that indeed helped me a lot! I'm rather sure I know what the problem is and I did some changes to the product. These changes are present in the next released version which will be out in the next 48 hours.

Please update to the new version when it becomes available and do let me know if the problem persists.

If you could post a new Debug Log, made with the latest version (1.8.0.460), then jv16 could see the results of his changes on your computer, which will help him to fix the problem in the next version.

I'm using the 1.8.0.460 version too and have had similar problems. Painfully slow. I have attached debug mode log below. When I started it in debug mode it strated up more quickly, but the times before when I have started in normal mode I would say that it takes a good 20 seconds to load. I end up with about 4 instances because I don't think it's started!!! Please help! Love this program, but I am going to get older and greyer every time I start it up if it doesn;t get fixed! :)
