Freezes with jv16 Powertools 2008

Hello,

since about April 2008 I´m upgrading from Powertools 2007 to 2008 I have freezes in Registry Cleaner and Registry Finder for every time. The freezes are also in Safe Mode!

Registry Cleaner: disabled File reference scan

Registry Finder: Search crashing about 105.000-110.000 Keys analyzed with Option:

- "Root keys for scan" all enabled

- Analyze Key Names - enabled

- Analyze value names - enabled

- Analyze value data - enabled

Registry Finder runs to the end, when disabled "Analyze value data".

I am not having these Registry Cleaner and Registry Finder problems with my Windows XP Pro SP2 system.

Perhaps if you posted the "Search words" you used in the failing Registry Finder scan, they might suggest something to someone in this forum ...

Does v.1.8.0.459 also freeze for you with Registry Information, Registry Compactor, or Registry Monitor?

Or with a RegEdit export of "My Computer?"

Registry Information and Registry Compacter runs. But Registry Monitor freeze.

Now I updatet to version .460. The same Problem with freezes.

The CPU Usage in Search Mode is very good (70-90%). But freezing 100000-115000 Keys.

The problem is "Analyze Value data". Disabled this feature then runs.

In Registry Cleaner Mode the CPU Usage is bad (10-50%).

You can test the CPU Usage with Process Explorer:

Since Registry Information and Registry Compacter ran OK, the RegEdit export probably won't fail.

If you want to try anyway:

On the task bar, click Start-->Run-->type regedit-->click OK-->right click My Computer--> select Export-->provide a filename-->click Save. Don't use the resulting file for anything -- we are just checking to see if regedit reads the registry without a problem.

I suggest you run your Registry Finder search five times with all the "analyze" options checked, but a different "root key" scan each time. Perhaps that will show if the problem is isolated to a specific root key ...
