Summary (for jv16) of small issues in 1.8.0.451 Registry Cleaner
These issues are posted here and there in today's posts:
1. Often (not always), the column headings cannot be drag-resized
2. Sometimes, drag-select in the caption area does not work properly (may be associated with 1 above)
3. Sometimes, dragging the results window using the title bar only moves it a very few pixels (it could not be drag-resized either); the other PT windows present at the same time can be dragged OK (item not mentioned elsewhere AFAIK) 1 and 2 were not present in this instance ...
4. The Ignore words tab has no effect (that is, matching items show in the results anyway) -- not such a small issue ...
5. When running Registry Finder, its messages appear in the Registry Cleaner message box if it is on the desktop (item not mentioned elsewhere AFAIK) -- happened the only time I did an RF scan …
6. On some windows renditions, the tool may be handling environment variables (%string%) incorrectly -- not such a small issue ...
7. Sometimes, the Filter feature (Ctrl/Alt/F) doesn't work; that is, nothing happens when you do Ctrl/Alt/F ...
8. "Not deleting all selected items at one time. Have to rescan or Delete multiple times. This occurs when there a many items to delete." There are similar symptoms when the "Structured list" format is used …
9. Items with "Trusted installer" permissions (which it seems only certain Microsoft processes have) are correctly listed as errors, but jv16PT.exe apparently doesn't have that permission and cannot remove the items
10. Sometimes, at or near the end of a scan, the results window (even all PT windows) becomes unresponsive. The jv16PT.exe process uses 50 to 100% cpu. After a few minutes, it may break out of whatever it is doing; otherwise, you have to kill it with Task Manager -- not such a small issue ...
Well, that's all the Registry Cleaner (1.8.0.451) issues I have been able to cull from today's posts (and personal experience). :
Added note: a possible workaround -- if you experience 1, 2, 7, or other problems in the results list window, such as the column head clicks to sort don't work, close the message box -- the problems might just disappear -- until a new message box appears ... it may also help with a structured format results window.
