449 Really messed up on Vista Business

I dropped back to Build 446 on Vista Business.

1. Build 449 registry cleaner shows it is scanning over 300000 registry values more than 446 and is picking up many invalid keys.

2. Build 499 startup manager is non-viewable. It shows a window about 2 x 2 inches with nothing in it.

I didn't go any further.

Yes -- the results window is totally messed up.

I haven't noticed the Registry Cleaner issue -- I'll look closer ...

I could not confirm this. Counts from Scan Reports show 449 scanned about 2% to 3% more entries than 446.

Perhaps the "read only" protection in v 1.8.0.449 (or some other intentional change?) could account for the moderate count increase.

Normal scans:

None of the scans found significant "errors" (from 0 to about 6 items).

Disclaimer: this statement is from the Handbook FAQ:

"Basically, the number of keys and values analyzed is shown only to let the user know there is

something going on, they shouldn't be used as any kind of reference values nor used for comparison

such as against other products."

The last pic on this post is a Raw-Aggressive scan with Build 446.

The other two pics are Raw-Aggressive scan with Build 449. If these items are selected for deletion, they return a error that Windows core cannot find the keys...

Whatever ... with v 1.8.0.449, I deleted the Name & ID items for the Direct3D & DirectDraw MRU keys with no problems.

I wonder if Macecraft has Vista SP1 in their test environment yet ... ?

Windows Update hasn't tried to lay SP1 on me yet. Even if/when it does, I think I'll wait a while. :

That must be the problem.(SP1)!I just downloaded it and installed it a little while ago.It took me about 45 mins to install it.This little glitch with PTS 2008 is the first one I came across.

No, but I expect we'll see another version quite soon.

Aside from the Startup Manager fiasco, v 1.8.0.449 seems to be very good (except, perhaps, with Vista SP1). I'll use it routinely. If I need Startup Manager, I''ll just launch the earlier version (I have multiple versions installed at the same time).

The update to SP1 was a smooth and painless update. Took ~45 minutes and 2 automatic reboots. Plus it gave me back the "Add Gadgets" window for Windows Sidebar that PT took away with the earlier Startup Manager fiasco. :)

It looks like XP-SP3 may be out next week too :

The bug with the Startup Manager is now fixed, simply re-download the 499 build and install it. The fix was included as a silent update, i.e. the version number was not increased.
