Registry Cleaner Query

If I use the Registry Cleaner in version 1.4.1 I get around 200 entries that are detected. In version 2005 I get a similar number, about 200, but they are entirely different entries. Is that normal? Are the engines so different to prodcue that result?

Also, I noticed on teh new sofwtare manager that some remnants of old software remained in th registry. Hwoever, these weren't detected by Registry Cleaner. Again, is that normal? Shoudl I use Software Manager to ensure deeper cleaning that Registry Cleaner (which I use on the aggresive settings)?

The Cleaning engine of v1.4.x is diffrent then the 2005 version.

The 2005 can find more faulty entries, and it is also much safer. It will exclude more entries which are know to cause problems.

Also, PowerTools has an option to update the Cleaner engine, which will add or remove entries which are faulty.

The Software Manager lists all software entries found in the regsitry.

These entries can't always be cleaned automaticly, becouse it can't always see if the software is still installed or not. That is what the Software Manager is for :).

What U've noticed is not picked up in 2005 are entires that appear where I have deleted or moved a file. For example, if I have downloaded a fiel to c, I may then move it to another directory. jv16 1.4 always picked up an entry relating to the now non-existent file at c. I have always routinely got rid of such entires without a problem and am just curious as to why these are no longer picked up. Sorry I haven't got the exact reg entries as an exmaple.

The registry keys I referred to above are like this-

I'd be grateful for thoughts on why such entries don't appear in jv16 2005.

Have you tried the latest version?

There was a small bug in the previous versions that caused some invalid MRU items not to be listed in the list of results.
