2007 'check for updates' says 'free' then asks me to pay

I'm quite angry about this:

I have 2007 v.1.7.0.422. Tonight I checked for updates from within the program and it said yes, version 1.8.0.466 was available and that this was A FREE UPGRADE!!!!!!!

I therefore installed into the same directory when JV2007 was installed and imagine my surprise when I received the message that this was a Trial version I had to pay for an upgrade.

The upgrade price is not the problem: the problem is that in order to go back to using v. 2007 I had to uninstall v. 2008 and in doing so, it DELETED ALL OF MY REGISTRY BACKUP COPIES!!!

Luckily I have a disc image with most of the backup files, but this is really a messy way to do business. Since the author doesn't provide an email address, I had to sign up to this forum (another PITA with the barely readable captcha), so I'm posting this here. I am not a happy customer now.

I think it will depend when you purchased 2007 wether the upgrade will be free.

Well, you could tell your friend to contact the developer and explain all that and to give the developer all the needed information to build and include that conditional (un)installer himself.
