Hello Flash,
1. No, i wouldn't run any Anti Ad/Spyware software while running any file or registry cleaner. This becouse some of those software block certain changes to files or the registry.
2. PowerTools or RegSuprme (Pro) won't make a backup if nothing has been done. So if there is no backup, then nothing needs to be restored.
3. You can try to start in the 'Save Mode with Command Consol' which most of the time will work. Or you can start with the Windows CD and start the 'R' Recovery Console.
After that you can go to the place where you have installed PowerTools.
*:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2005\Backups. There you will find the backups that are made. Also, in the Save Mode with Command Consol you could try to start PowerTools and use the backup feature.
