Registry Cleaner - a bizarre, intermittant bug
Test conditions:1. registry cleared of errors using v 1.7.0.411
2. restored some MRU items from History Cleaner backups
3. ran Registry Cleaner raw list; it showed 332 lines; all were "Useless registry entry"; half were HKCU entries; half were HKUS duplicates
a. 2 were DirectX MRU
b. 330 were Windows - Recent Documents
4. selected all and clicked Fix; message said 167 items fixed and 165 had to be removed
5. but 160+ lines stayed selected on the list (all were either HKCU or HKUS, I forget which …)
6. clicked Fix again; the last message shown below occurred.
7. backup for the first Fix click contains 166 lines in Custom Fix (correct, I think)
8. backup, though requested, did not occur for the second Fix click (not a problem, I think -- first backup did everything …)
I repeated the test to see if the strange results would repeat. They did not. The first Fix fixed 0 items and removed 332.
