Analysis example using Registry Cleaner's "Error description"

* All scans were aggressive and done on the same Vista PC over a two hour period.

* Only two to five scans with each version were done.

* Single scan counts below are by "Error description" type.

* Counts did not vary within a version (except in PT2004)

* Each version's scan engine is known to be different.

* The ignore list from the Macecraft network made no difference (it was removed for some rescans)

Obsolete software entry = 54 (4)

Useless file extension = 4

File or directory does not exist = 326 (1) -- Total = 384

v 1.5.1.307 (PT2005)

Useless file extension = 2

File or directory does not exist = 30 -- Total = 32

v 1.5.2.350 (PT2006)

Useless file extension = 2

Useless registry entry = 156 (2)

File or directory does not exist = 223 (3) -- Total = 381

v 1.7.0.405 (PT2007)

Useless file extension = 2

Notes about large version differences, based on direct observation of the Registry Cleaner results list:

(1) PT2004 appears to interrogate file references more aggressively. In some scans, far fewer items of this type were found.

(2) These are "UserAssist" items, only seen by the PT2006 engine and only seen there in aggressive mode.

(3) 199 of these are items new in Vista and windows does not allow removal; the PT2004 and PT2005 engines don't even see them; PT2007 is programmed to skip them.

(4) PT2004 may not be consistent in what it considers as "errors." Also, half the found items are "twins" of the other half.

The following bugs are now fixed:

* Enter shortcuts didn't work because of the new GUI. With the bug fixed, you can start e.g. the Registry Cleaner by pressing Ctrl + Enter which always clicks the tool's Start button.

* Registry Cleaner's Fix function reported the number of removed entries and keys incorrectly. If the tool removed, say, 3 keys and 4 entries it would report to had removed 4 keys and 3 entries.

* Registry Cleaner wasn't able to remove all types of registry errors (mainly MRU), instead the same errors were shown on each scan.

* Registry Cleaner, handles REG_MULTI_SZ data type entries incorrectly

* Startup Manager, user changes not saved when tool closes

* Tools menu, in tool windows, says Settings, should say Backup tool (v.1.7.0.414)
