NTUSER.DAT no longer hidden/system file

Hi everyone

I have always been recommended jv16 but have only just got around to trying it. I think however I may have discovered a bug...

I am running jv16 2007 on Vista Ultimate 32...

After running the registry compactor I noticed that the registry file NTUSER.DAT is no longer hidden or read only. Is this by design or a fault.

In a process of registry compaction the ntuser.dat file is recreated by Windows itself. So if Windows doesn't make it hidden and readonly one would think that it isn't necessary to have those attributes set.

Hi thanks for coming back to me,

However...my point is that prior to compacting the registry the file was hidden.

Something in the process of compacting that registry file has changed its attributes which could be confising for the average user!
