These two issues are now fixed. The fixed version will be released within a day or few.

In XP and Vista, after running Registry Cleaner, Select All seems to work but selected items do not appear selected.

Still does not launch in Win 98.

Hello, here is Mathieu again!

I tested the "Obsolete software entries" story again in .404 and the registry cleaner shows the same entries again.

(see: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2012)

We already know that some of these entries are for sure entries of applications which are still running on my PC, but when I check these entries they all seem to be empty (the keys have no value).

The question is now: is it dangerous to remove empty keys of applications which are still running on a PC?

If the HKxx\...\Software\... keys and subkeys are completely empty (use RegEdit to find out), they are likely safe to remove. But wait for jv's opinion before you proceed.

In theory, it is possible that removing these empty keys could cause problems with some of those applications. But in practice the odds are so low that I would consider them safe to remove. I have never in my life seen or heard of such case.

And if you are very unlucky and something does happen, problems like these can be fixed simply by restoring the backup file created by the Registry Cleaner.
