Backup Tool is empty and I need to restore!

I purchased the jv16 PowerTools 2006 online yesterday and ran the registry cleaner. I created a backup as prompted, then used the fix button. I left all preferences at their defaults, but did rename the file for easy identification (12-27-06 1st registry backup). The program removed all the found items. I then realized once using my computer that several things didn't work, so I tried the Backup Tool, and there is nothing in it! I did a windows search for all files created on 12-27-06 and the file isn't on the computer. I even tried to find it by looking in the PowerTools folder and it wasn't there either. I am quite worried and need help. I also ran the software manager after the reg cleaner to remove 4 files (three Ubi soft programs - Chessmaster and a game called Moorhun Winter Edition) It seemed to take a long time to do this part, did it delete more than it should have? Can I restore everything and start over?

You should have better set a "RESTORE POINT" before you installed JV16

Try to use a point from some days ago............

1) You can't view just like that the backup file in the main screen of jv16 PT 2006. You have to click on "File" > "Backup Tool" and then you will (normally) see your backup file you created. Set your mouse arrow on the description and click on it to select it, then click on "Restore".

2) The filename you created cannot be found among the files at your PC!

Go to "C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2006\Backups". There you'll found one or more subdirs containing the backup files all of them wearing the name "entries.reg". That file (entries.reg) contains among others the description of the backup you gave and all the backed up registry entries.

This is interesting, I have just posted a reply about backups on the thread by J-MAC.

I also renamed my backup to today's date and when I looked in File > backup tool and nothing was there.

I also looked in Program Files jv16 and there in the backup folder was indeed a file called entries.reg

Too late now I have deleted Powertools from my system completely. There must be a problem with renaming backup files or it is related to the problem on the J-MAC thread
