RegSupreme RC3 released:

This will most likely be the last RC version before the official release.

This release should fix all the reported problems. Also, the Normal scan no longer runs the MRU scan module, only Aggressive mode runs it.

Don't install this version over any older version of the product!

Before I had a problem where it took numerous scans to find the errors, and the last 14 Keys it said it fixed, but when I rescanned they kept reappearing. With the new version this seems to be fixed with the normal scan, but still keeps finding these 14 Keys with the aggressive scan.

Ran RC3 thru its paces. Removed RC2 and installed ok. Worked without flaws in both normal and aggressive. For future would like to be able to have an exclusion file so that RC3 can be trained to NOT change certain items.

I like it alot, the interface is clean, it only has one function: to clean/optimize the windows registry. The initial registry scan after installing the product was quick, maybe 1 minute, the normal scan was very quick probably only took a minute after that and it found 800+ items that needed to be fixed or removed which it did in record time.

I'm impressed, you've kept this product very simple & easy to use and the windows registry scanning engine is top notch.

Uninstalled RC2 and installed RC3. Everything appeared to run smooth and correct. I would still like to see whatever mode you run it in, that would be the mode it loads with next time.

I first restored a recent image of my C: partition, so that I could compare scan results for RC2 & RC3.

Both RC2 uninstall and RC3 install then went fine.

Where RC2 had found about 2500 invalid items in Normal mode (I don't have the precise number anymore), RC 3 found 1275. Is it possible that such a big change can be entirely explained by the fact that RC3 Normal scan no longer runs the MRU scan module?

I installed and ran the latest RC. First run found 440 errors, removed 221, corrected 0. Subsequent run found 16 errors, corrected 7. And every run after that found the same 16 errors and reported that it corrected 7. The last run said it found these 32 keys which are the same as it found and reported as 16.

Don't forget some registry entries (keys) are always recreated. Especially those "UserAssist" and "OpenSaveMRU" entries are recreated at once by Windows.

In jv16PT2006 there's an option to ignore such entries, while RegSupreme is lacking such an option.

What you can do is adding e.g. "UserAssist" or "HRZR" (without quotes) to the ignore words of the "DefaultIgnoreList.dat" file in the subdirecory "RegSupreme\Data" using Windows' "Notepad".

RC3 worked as described. Installed easily. The intitial cache creation took a substantially longer time than in RC1 or RC2, as did the normal scan that I ran (288 seconds instead of about 120 seconds or less in RC1 and RC2). Aggressive scan also seemed to take about twice as long as RC1 and 2.

Nice clean program -- well done.

Using WinXP Pro (SP2)

I found the simple Interface and lack of " bells and whistles " a help in that I had to study each entry very carefully before selection .

A little clumsy expanding the width of the interface to see all the data, but no big deal.

Like the simplicity and speed , plus it found a few entries from malware I'd thought I'd cleaned months ago. Small , fast and efficient.

Backed up registry firstly, plus made a log of System files before and after installing. Very minor changes there, and to the registry on installation.

Definately a powerful RegCleaner .

Once I previewed results found I had to hold CTRL , highlight , then "select" in steps of about 15 entries or they de-selected . Of course there are the check boxes on the left, but I prefer to hightlight a group , then select . I wasn't about to "select all " and FIX. I feel this attribute may be great for curbing over zealous users , making for a more studious approach to selection than more flashy programs . I really had to poke my nose in and have a good old look . :)

I deleted only that which I new to be invalid. The .reg backup was created , so no drama . Great work !

I carried out my weekly scan last night with last free jv16. I removed all it found.

To-day I installed RS and "fixed" 14 items which were deleted.

The remainder "User Assist" I left behind deciding not to delete.

RegSupreme just arrived to-day. 8)

I've been having some problems with settings being changed on some of my software programs. I'm not positive it has to do with RegSupreme, but I never had these problems before. I've been running the normal scan, not the aggressive on Windows XP. Thanks.

I checked on three different software programs tonight after running this test version of RegSupreme and I was right: all of the software had their settings changed after running the scan. I hope you look into this because it's kind of a hassle to reset all my software everytime I use it, but at the same time, I really like the protection of your excellent program.

Otherwise, the new RegSupreme works great. Thank you.

What programs these are? Could you please send the generated backup file (entries.reg, it's under the Backup dir, by default at c:\program files\regsupreme\backups) to files@macecraft.com?

This way I could analyze it and fix the problem, thanks.

RegSupremePro used to clean up ZoneAlarm files named ZAMailSafe, then ZoneAlarm changed and the files no longer showed up. Now, Zone Alarm has changed again and those files are back, but this time aren't cleaned up by RegSupremePro. The only way I can clean them is to use an old program I have called TuneUp Utilities. Would it be possible to have RegSupremePro find them again? Thanks.
