These items are listed by the updated PT 2006's registry cleaning engine. RegSupremes still use older version of the same engine, therefore they can't detect the same errors as PT.

RegSupreme will be updated most likely in this week, and an update to RegSupreme Pro will also follow shortly.

Okay, so these 450 userassist items are safe to remove! 8)

Should be -- I have only noticed one person (nikolaos) report a specific problem from removing those items.

Something to do with Microsoft Autoroute ... it may not really have had anything to do with the UserAssist items ... might have been an RC bug locating a path\filename or ? ...

He recovered by restoring the backup and using ignore words.

Maybe nikolaos will tell us if his problem is fixed in 1.5.2.342 ...

Not safe to remove in my case. After removing these the most frequently used programmes which are added to the left hand column of the start menu disappeared from the start menu leaving the left hand column empty.

redseujac explained that impact elsewhere. The impact happens when you remove all the UserAssist entries.

I don't believe removing the ones that point to files that don't exist would have that impact.

Even if you use regedit or Registry Finder to remove all the items, windows starts building a new list after you do a restart.

Added note: Never mind -- I forgot I had turned off UA encryption, so I was not seeing this new PT behavior. :

This is by design. The MRU scan module of the Registry Cleaner cleans all the detected MRU lists, including that one. If you don't wish this to happen, don't run the MRU scan module with the Registry Cleaner.

I have just updated to 1.5.2.342 and also had a result of 445 items (with "intensive" search).

I use all 3 JV-Cleaners regulary so hardly anything found.

But this time with those 445 I thought "THIS WILL KILL THE MACHINE" ! :

After reboot all was well and my trust in JV`s-spledid tools is reliable as ever.

I updated to 1.5.2.342, registry cleaner reported 833 new items, mostly related to UserAssist. The strange is that registry cleaner said 100% health. I deleted them after a back up. Till now no problems.

I used the same ignore words for Microsoft Autoroute, everything worked fine. Anyway UserAssist items have nothing to do with Microsoft Autoroute. I will try to remove the ignore words and see what happens.

In the original topic, you posted only UserAssist examples. Were there other items that referenced only AutoRoute and not UserAssist?

Then you removed some AutoRoute ignore words, then removed what showed as errors, then AutoRoute no longer worked. Correct?

If so, I think jv16 needs to know what exactly showed as errors after you took out the AutoRoute ignore words ...

Yes, all 833 UserAssist items were removed with no problems. But after a scan 2 days later 1.5.2.342, registry cleaner reported 93 new items, mostly related to UserAssist, so windows XP creates them again.

I have an excel .xls file with the false entries regarding Microsoft Autoroute, but I do not know how to attach it. Registry cleaner reports directories/files that does not esist, but this is false, they all exist. This is the problem.

Yes, XP does that and never removes them. Some users have reported thousands of entries in their registry. XP uses them (if they are there) to do a frequency of use analysis to support a couple of start menu options. 1.5.2.342 registry cleaner only shows them if you check "MRU analysis" ...

If you have trouble attaching to your e-mail, try selecting the block of excel cells with the data, then copy and paste right into your e-mail message. It would be better if you attach the file -- first check your e-mail help to see what it says about attach...
