Main window - spontaneous size change - a better description
Main window -- window size changes spontaneously -- PT 2006 v.1.5.2.338
This is a better description of the above bug's behavior ...
Note: Appearance is set as "Windows classic style"
When PT is relaunched (and no window drag resizing was done):
-- The main window always appears in its last position on the desktop ... no problem.
-- The left to right window dimensions are always as last used ... no problem.
-- The top of the window is always positioned as last used ... no problem.
-- In about 5 to 15% of the launches, the bottom window border is about 7 cm. lower (always the same) ... that is the problem.
-- Very infrequently (perhaps 1 out of 200 launches), the extra window space has a border, but is completely transparent. When the window is moved, the extraneous border is left behind and can be wiped out by dragging something over it. As soon as it is moved, the window is correctly sized and has a bottom border, but there is a 1 to 3 cm. gap in the bottom border. Note: This happened again with several other windows behind the new PT main window. Here are some additional observations. The left behind border stayed on the windows behind it -- if you moved one of those windows, the part of the PT border on that window moved with it. Dragging a desktop icon or another window over the border remnants did not wipe them out -- only the PT window would do that. The gap in the PT bottom border was not a gap this time -- it contained thin slices of the windows that happened to be behind it when it started. Once you used the PT window to wipe out the remnants, the bottom border lost the slices of the other windows and looked completely normal.
