Windows Defender Beta 2 Refreshed

If I do a normal Registry Clean and delete all indicated files, the new Windows Defender signature files will not install. This is repeatable on 3 PCs. I just cannot find which reg entry(ies) is causing the problem, as all those deleted seem to point to files in .temp directories and thus should be OK to delete.

Anyone else had this problem or knows which file to leave in?

A restore of the backup makes all OK.

Windows defender has known issues with updates. I usually have to run a bat file to remove the previous signatures prior to updating or I get a continuous update loop. You can search microsoft's website for the windows defender community.

Hi,

Regarding the updates of windows defender after a jv16 powertools 2006 sweep, i found out that by entering the control panel, then selecting install uninstall programs, going to windows defender on that list and selecting it by clicking just once on it, ... there is a "modify" option that is showing up.

If you click on it, defender is showing you different options, among them :

"update". Select it and it will repair itself and additionally download the latest definition version. You may choose to perform a scan at the end.

This allows defender to be correctly updated.
