You are correct in that what I posted did not establish the RegCleaner lines as the culprit. My bad. I neglected to write that the Restore Backup function did, indeed, correct the problem.
In addition, subsequent to my posting I also selected the the Change and Remove buttons for this particular program to ensure they were pointing to something reasonable. In both instances they advanced to the "next step" -- the Installer in the first, and a dialog box asking if I really wanted to remove the program in the second.
Thanks for the tip about checking "Don't Show this again". But that really begs the question of trustworthiness of running a registry cleaner, with hundreds of possibles to be removed, and then having to look at each entry line by line and make a decision, based on incomplete knowledge, as to whether or not to allow its removal.
I've gotten a bit further in this troubleshooting.
As I mentioned, when I select Change in the Add/Remove Programs dialog, a box comes up Titled "Game Drive InstallShield Wizard". However, the registry entry which PT wants to remove points to a non-existent file (C:...\GameDrive\setup.exe).
I don't know how to tell where the Change button is pointing -- that might give another clue as to what is going on.
