New visitor observation

Since I'm very lazy, I edited my last bug report to reflect the fixed bugs and the new ones found during the testing of the released version. Then a mere copy-paste work to post the results here. OK, so these are the remaining bugs

After reading this weeks "WXPNEWS" with this website featured, I came snooping around as I'm always looking for advanced software tools that help with the multitudes of MS errors and Bad manners.

While reading through the majority of these forum posts, and almost all the categories, I came across the entry from a developer (who I can now no longer find) who was responding to a complaint about the "Demo" version being very old, mentioned that the demo may or may not work on XP spx.

WOW! How inspiring is this! Add to this the post (above) concerning all the remaining "BUGS" in the current release.

I'm an independant Architectural designer and use many different Cad products to design, render, and create models... I use considerable horsepower on this workstation, and this translates to $$$ invested on computer equipment.

I diligently sample "trial" software before giving any unknown software co. my money. I've been severely burned too many times by slick marketing and hyped websites...

After reading the mentioned posts, It is not likely that I will even bother with this questionable product.

Thanks for making this forum available, it provided valuable information.

I don't quite know to what you are referring to. The current demo versio of our flagship product jv16 PowerTools is brand new, it was released only a few weeks ago.

All of our products are working under Windows XP, of course. I guess you must be meaning some of my posts in which I state that a program called RegCleaner hasn't been tested with Windows XP SPx?

This is true, but RegCleaner is an old and obsolete little freeware program I once wrote just for fun. It has very little or nothing to do with Macecraft Software or jv16 PowerTools.

The Remaining bugs topic you refer to is about problems with Windows 98 and jv16 PowerTools. The Windows 98 is an ancient DOS based operating system which is very rare these days, based on the compatibility problems in it and its age, we are currently considering about removing it from the list of supported operating systems.

Boy, there is misinformation somewhere 'cause there ain't no bugs in JV 16 of whatever version. I've used it and used it, and used it and it's GREAT!!!!!!!

Oh yes, one thing, comparing apples with pears - the first Tool (very simple and allready antiquarian) and the newest (in "swiss knife" in computer science) is not a very professionnal way.

Well, all that "misunderstanding" is due to Lashiec's post ( http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1040 ) who tests this program and reports "bugs" using an obsolete and medieval OS like Windows 98 :

The fault is nor by the post of "Lashiec" nor of jv's reply.

The only faulty one is "rs9".

If he says he did "reading through the majority of these forum posts", so this can't be true at all, because he even did not read completly the "incriminated" post about this "antiquarian" RegCleaner, where jv said:

Not even close! Personal degradation is the domain of inarticulate unprofessional people. It was not "Obvious" that the poster was reporting his sizeable bug list from an obsolete platform! Nor was it equally obvious on the other posters reply (concerning the demo's operability). The one mention of W98 from the poster was under the heading of "Start Manager" or some such. Given the context of the post (Under the most current version) and the publicly advertised "Demo Shots", the conclusion is reasonable.

You seem to believe that potential customers can read your mind! This company states that the "main" technical support (Without charge) is this forum. (FAQ) I haven't found any "Obvious" information that the software warranty for this product extends much further than the day the software is installed! (figuratively speaking)

Were the "Demo Shots" on the main website depicting "Installation Path" or "Executable" listed as "N/A" done with an obsolete W98? These were also mentioned in the "Bug List".

You are correct, most people get an answer for their problem if they only ask it in a nice way. The only person working for the company who is active in the forums is me, every other posters are volunteers who help other users just for fun.

The information (i.e. installation path and main executable) can't always be extracted, therefore a "N/A" is shown on some software. You are correct, this could be a bit confusing. The chapter of Software Manager in jv16 PT 2006's upcoming Handbook will say:

"Please note that the Software Manager works based on approximations, this means the list can contain some number of errors, for example the software's Main Executable information or the Installation Date might not show the correct data on all software. This is normal. Also, it's not always possible for the Software Manager to detect e.g. The Installation Path of the software, in such case an “N/A” is shown. "

Well, the problem is that there is no such thing as an "Independent review" nowdays. My opinion is that about 90% of all software reviews are sponsored in one way or another, either by direct purchase or by an affiliate deal ("give us a good review and place this link to your site and you'll get xx% of all the sales you generate").

We used to purchase reviews (as in "We pay you x USD, write a review of this. You have free hands to write whatever you want") but that seemed such a waste of time and money.

I didn't attack you. But your initial message was very aggressive and rude. That's why I don't find it very surprising that you didn't get very a very polite and welcoming replies from other users. But do notice that I'm the only person here connected with the company, every other writer only expresses their personal opinions, not the opinions of Macecraft Software.

We believe in openness, that's why you can find even negative feedback and such from these forums. Most of our competitors don't even have forums where users could exchange ideas, if they have one, any kind negative feedback will get your post deleted and you banned.

If you use google you can find negative feedback and comments of every single thing on this Earth, especially about each and every commercial product there is.

That's why I would recommend you to download the free trial version of the software and see it for yourself.
