Check for updates function doesn't work

Hello,

I already read on the site this evening that there was a new version available (1.5.2.335).

I'm now using version 1.5.2.331, released a few days ago. I started the program and pressed the F11-button so as to let the program check for updates, wondering if it would download and install the new version automatically or so... the check for update function found no update at all!!!

First, it said the latest version was 1.5.2.331.

Trying a second time, it said 'N/A'.

Trying a third time, it said again that the latest version was 1.5.2.331!

I think this is a bug, don't you think?.

Hello, I'm back again!

I just downloaded version 1.5.2.335 from the download section on the site and installed it.

I tried the check for updates function again, and it said this:

Version you are currently using:

1.5.2.335

Latest version:

1.5.2.331

This should work now I think, as there are no problems for me.

The program caches the network query for one day. In other words, if you checked for updates in the afternoon and there were none, but an updated version was released in the evening your PT would show it only the next day.

This was done to spread the traffic of our servers to a bit longer period, instead of very high peaks after each update release.

OK, I understand how it works now. Actually, it wasn't a problem for me, but I thought that if it was a bug, I had to tell about it.

I use 1.5.2.331 and checked for new version. Version 1.5.2.335 should be available, so I downloaded it. The Windows told me, that I have NOT to uninstall the old version (as allways before). But it was not possible to install the 335, because the message come up, the installer could not delete a file (which is not declared). So I click ignore and the installation is finished, but the started PT2006 is blocked and nothing goes on. I had to kill the PT2006 and reinstalled the old version 331 again.

What is the reason for my and all other installation problems above?

Since the install packages work the same, if you had used the 335 install at this point, it most likely would have worked.

I installed 335 over 331 without uninstalling first and had no such problems, so have no insight into reasons.

I had this problem a long time ago and I remeber that PT was active, because I had created an automatic task in the Tool.

It could be that, or for some other reason, PT was still active.

If this happens again, check in Windows Taskmanager and kill the process in there.

Sounds like the program was running on the background while you tried to update, that's why the installation application couldn't update the program.

Thank's a lot Jouni. Your diagnose was correct. Now I have updated to 335 and it works (on first view ... : )
