RegCleaner doesn't remove entries

Just upgrade to version 2006.

It detects some keys on the registry that version 2005 didn't.

They are classified as High and I know that the files to which them refer didn't exist anymore on my computer.

However when I click remove, get no error message but when cleaning the registry again or checking the entries with regedit THEY HAVEN'T BEEN REMOVED!!!

Is it a bug?

Am I doing something wrong?

Please advise

I just forgot to mention that I uninstalled version 2006 and reinstalled version 2005.

I 'am an old user of the program (started when it was a free utilitie) and never faced a problem... until today!

Support would be appreciated as from what I saw 2006 version is better and have more functions.

May be, because I'm Portuguese, my English is not clear enough for you but was clear enough to have you criticizing me.... At least you could understand that the 2 posts were similar...!

What about dropping some lines to me helping to solve my problem?

It would be nice to have a good image of the Forum which I believe exists to help users of PT so solve the problems they face with the product.

If I get no help.... I can survive with version 2005.

PT continues to be the best program for dealing with registry.

Thanks for your suggestion but there is nothing more I can ad....

The question is clear.

The program installed without problems an run OK

Then I run the module RegCleaner.

It detect 70 High errors which I confirmed that they correspond to reference to files that I have uninstalled.

I select them all and clicked Remove as I use to do with version 2005.

It clean the screen with no message.

When I run the RegCleaner again (without rebooting) the same entries were detected again.

I checked with Regedit and they were there.

The question is simple:

RegCleaner is not removing the bad entries from my registry!

What more I can say?

PT 2005 doesn't detect those entries but the ones it detects it remove them!

Any hints?

Just 2 points more:

The only strange thing is that the RegCleaner on the column "Entry Last Modified" writes no date. Instead it writes "NA".

PT 2005 in "Aggressive Mode" seems to detect those entries that PT 2006 detects in normal mode... but I never risked to use the aggressive mode before.... and I'm afraid of damaging the registry.

I have daily backups of my drive C: made by Acronis so I can try and if something goes wrong restore the drive C: from backup... but the computer is running OK and I'm not sure if this will be a good approach.

Please advise

No one doubts you have a problem. It is not happening on my two computers. There have been no other obvious reports of the problem. So one needs a clue to start an investigation.

Since you do not provide any specific examples (clues), we will have to wait for someone with the same problem who does.

In the meantime, lacking information, I can only suggest the obvious, which you probably have already done.

In the Registry Cleaner tool window, look in the Advanced options tab. Make sure the box for "Don't show items that would be automatically recreated" is checked.

You know this a forum, not a paid online help desk. The time between your first and second post was about 1: 30 hour.

So it would be very kind to be a bit more patient, with the few members who spent their free time helping other users in their problems

If we will keep a good image to the forum, the first thing would be that every member do take care of the rules. Without this basics their will be anarchy.

If you would have a look to the posts of "redseujac" in the last lime, you would see that he not just take care of the rules but gave a lot of helpful answers to members as well.

By this way, as you see "redseujac" has been promoted as "Guru" by Jouni himself. So this means that he did a good and reliable work on this forum.

And I'm shure there was no intention of him to bless you.

Well, let's come,everybody, to less emotional way to discuss problems.

I'm not a kid... I'm 68 year old, I'm not an expert using Forums, even considering that from my age of 50 I start using and playing with computers and I consider that the redseujac reply was aggressive.

He may have used a more friendly wording on the first message but he insists on the same type of aggressive language on his last reply. I saw he is a "Guru" and because of that I think he should have the capacity of distinguish between the actions of a troublemaker and the actions of someone who only made a mistake.

It seems that nobody read the 2 first sentences of my reply to [bredseujac ....

Can you understand what means "Sorry?"

The most important is that I got no help and additionally when I was on line my antivirus alerted that PT 2005 has a virus ( Trojan Horse Backdoor. Agent.AYM" ?????

I was forced to uninstall it and now if I try to install again from the original copy the antivirus insists that it is a virus.

It seems that was the only thing I got from the Forum!

Let's close this non useful exchange of messages....

If someone can give me an hint on my problem it would be nice.

What about downloading and installing the most recent version?

Please, do a new test and post your findings here.

If the problems persist, you should try to enable the option "Don't show items that would be automatically re-created" in the "Advanced options" of the Registry Cleaner window. All you have to do is to place a checkmark next to that option (Notice that Tullik made already that advice in his reply).

I also had some regeistry entries that reappeared always after having Registry Cleaner let delete them ... there was nothing to do, they kept coming back in every new scan.

So the only way to get rid of them, was to select them all and with the right click menu option "never show again" prevent them showing up again.

But there's maybe another solution: trying to manually delete those entries in thet register using MS Windows Regedit. But I'm not sure that will do the trick, because some left over entries cannot be deleted, as far as I experienced.

Thank you very much for your last suggestions.

I downloaded the last version and it installed and run without problem.

As I told before the RegCleaner showed a lot of bad high entries and on the column "Entry Last Modified" there was no date but the note "NA"and the entries reappear after telling RegCleaner to remove them.

I tried to delete those entries using Regedit but got an "access denied"

I believe they are entries related with programs I uninstalled (mainly with Musicmatch) and the only solution was to let them there and tell RegCleaner to "do not show them again".

Then I clicked remove all the other entries detected and "Alleluia!" it worked. :

Now I know that I have some entries on the registry that are bad but can do nothing. It sure happened when I was forced to use drastic solutions to uninstall Musicmatch because the program developed an error, don't allow me to uninstall normally and even when I tried to delete the files and the directory of the installation I always got the message "access denied"

I browse the net with Google trying to find a solution to get rid of Musicmatch but none of found worked.

I spent quite a day fighting with the computer and finally get rid of the files and directory but.... as I can see now the entries remain on the registry :

I used Musicmatch for years and I liked it but.... now it seems they have tried to implement a lot of new features.... and failed. I can survive without it :

I use AVG pro and they already answered me that the detection of PT 2005 as a virus is a "false positive" that will be corrected on next update.

Final conclusion:

PT continues to be the best program to deal with registry;

Your suggestion was a very good hint;

Using the Forum have been a good experience to me! :

My situation is exactly the same as rsousa37. I have about 100 'itunes' entries although I uninstalled the program some time ago.

The problem seems to be more common than it might appear. Just posting for moral support.

I have a very similar problem; entries in startup could not be removed. They were shown as deleted, but when I ran RegCleaner again, they were back.

I then tried costum fix and clicked on the button "call regedit", but nothing happens.

IBM Aptiva 271, 450 MHz, 193 MB Ram Windows 98 SE

If someone would:

1. Bring up one of the items in regedit

2. Use regedit to export the item to a file

3. Copy and paste the file contents to a post here

4. Perhaps someone could then tell if the item is a type known to be subject to a bug
