Is this a known fault with JV2006?

Last Saturday I installed JV 2006. I used the reg cleaner and made a backup. Every time since then whenever I start my PC it takes longer to start and I am unable to get an internet (cable) connection.

The strange thing is that this doesn`t occur when I reboot but only after I have started the computer after shutting it down. The other strange thing is that if I reboot the modem everything is fine.

My other 2 PC`s which connect to the same internet connection (wireless) have no problems at all.

I have tried restoring the backup I made but this doesn`t correct it. I have also tried using the Windows system restore but it wont restore prior to last Saturday.

Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone advise me?

You said it takes longer to start your pc. Can you specify what takes longer: The duration from turning on the computer till it is ready with its hardware identification or do you mean the start of Windows?

The time it takes from to load Windows. (from the windows logo, moving bar to when it finally loaded with the icons on the desktop)

Any ideas and thanks for trying to help?

At first take a look at the device manager. Are there any devices marked as unknown or are some devices (especially your modem or NIC) installed more than one time?

I am not at home at the moment but will look at the devices settings for the modem later.

Checked the device setting and no problem there. Does seem strange that this problem only occurs after switching on after a full shutdown.

Maybe there is something wrong with the cmos settings. Do you tried to reset the cmos to factory default settings?

Is the computer in question connecting to the internet through another computer on your wireless network? Do you have a firewall?

If so, you might check the IP addresses involved when the problem occurs. I have had to expand the allowable IP address range from the other computer in the past. It is now xxx.xxx.xxx.1 to xxx.xxx.xxx.116.

Hi Guys solved the problem.

I download the latest firmware for my router and it seems to be working now. However I wonder if PT2006 deleted or corrupted those files when I ran reg cleaner, is that possible?

Unlikely:

1. When you first reported, I scanned my registry looking for likely suspects, found none.

2. I believe the IP addresses (if you opt for automatic) come from the router via the computer wire-connected to it.

3. Register Cleaner does registry entries. I don't believe it does files.

All I know is that after running reg cleaner I had the problem. If you say that it`s unlikely that 2006 was the problem then I accept it.

I think you can tell I know very little about computers and what makes them work.

No it's not, the Registry Cleaner only removes registry entires, not files at all. It's impossible that the Registry Cleaner would delete any files whatsoever.

Other tools of the product can be used to remove files, such as the File Tool, File Finder or File Cleaner, of course.
