Before diving into what turned out to be one of the most transformative years in our company’s history, I want to say thank you! Your support, patience, and honest feedback throughout 2025 have meant everything to me and the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was the year we released four major updates, said goodbye to a 20-year-old company and started over, and somehow found ourselves building two more major releases. Let’s talk about how we got here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uninstalr updates: the launches that humbled us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
We released Uninstalr 2.6 on February 13th with expanded app detection and support for more gaming platforms. Within days, though, we were hearing about accuracy issues and slow performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather than letting those issues linger, we went back to work. On April 17th, we shipped Uninstalr 2.8 – the current version that finally solved most of the speed problems and addressed many accuracy concerns you’d reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After that experience, I told the team I wasn’t touching another major Uninstalr update anytime soon because it was exhausting work (spoiler: I’m currently waist-deep in Uninstalr 3.0 as I write this – apparently, I have a short memory).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WinFindr updates: a quieter success<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
On June 26th, we released WinFindr 1.7 – its first update since 2023. This one was significantly less intense than Uninstalr, focusing mainly on improving search support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your feedback after launch pointed out bugs we’d missed and the need for better accessibility support, which we addressed in version 1.8 on July 17th. It’s a good reminder that no matter how thorough our internal testing is, real-world use always reveals something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The end of Macecraft, the beginning of Great Software Company<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
This is probably the biggest change of the year, and it wasn’t easy to write about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2024, my co-founder and I amicably decided to part ways. After talking with the team, we concluded that dissolving Macecraft was the right move. It’s strange saying goodbye to the first company I co-founded – one that ran for over 20 years at that – but I knew I wanted to keep developing software regardless of the company name on the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
